I'd like to be anywhere but here at the moment, it's pouring down....South Wales.
We're in Lightwater, Surrey -right next to the Country Park, lovely!!
(It's raining all the way round the M25 too, I know because I have just spent 3 hours on it!!!!)
Hayley
Barbara, I live in Bradford West Yorks and its been
raining all day here, would be nice to order sunshine for the weekend.

Its been raining here in Wetherby too we have also had some thunder :(

Don't seem to be too many of us 'down South', do there Hayley. Shame, we could get a Champdogs 'meet up' going.
I used to work in the 'Red Lion' at Lightwater, as my friends used to run it ...........
M.
Hi Marina,
No I haven't noticed too many southern southerners, where do you walk regularly? We are lucky to have Lightwater Country Park 2 minutes away, which the dogs love, and luckily doesn't get too boggy (especially with all this rain!)
We haven't really been in the Red Lion, although I walk past it practically every day, when we do manage to get an evening out we like to go somewhere we can get a decent meal - our favourite is probably near you, the Duke of Edinburgh (Woodside? nr Ascot)
Hayley

Hi,
Regularly walk on Ascot Racecourse, Englemere Pond, Swinley Woods - sometimes Lily Hill Park in Bracknell, Virginia Waters, plus a few shorter local ones. Sometimes pop into Lightwater CP if I'm showing at Woking Leisure Centre, lovely walk on the way back for dogs to let off steam.
Haven't tried the DoE, it's near the Rose & Crown though, which we like but don't splash out on too often.
M.
Hi again!
How many dogs do you walk with, I sometimes see a lady (you?) with 2 Rough Collies, what colour do you have? We keep meaning to try other walks, but with 2 children under 4 (well until Wed anyway!) and a house to decorate we never seem to get the time.
The D of E is lovely, just like a normal nice pub, but with a sweet little restaurant area, lovely food, good selection and not badly priced, we tend to go on birthdays, or occasionally just to celebrate an evening away from the kids!!!
H

Hi,
2 dogs, both sable [$ white (Lassie coloured ])). Would be the odd weekend, although if I fancy a change do the odd evening in the summer too. Light till 9 o'clock now, isn't it great!
Will have to try the DoE, someone else was talking about it last night too - we're obviously missing out.

Isobel I noticed you are in the Lancaster area. Do you go to any classes? Im in Morecambe. Probably bumped into each other shopping in Town
By Isabel
Date 07.05.03 14:20 UTC

No classes now but used to go to Margaret Pennington's training classes in Morecambe and agility class at Hest Bank, ring craft at Crag Bank and Cross Hill, Torrisholme although not sure if that one is still going anywhere as the hall is now demolished I think. Are you going to any of them?
By JackyandSydney
Date 07.05.03 14:26 UTC
Hi Isobel, I go to puppy class with Margaret, and hope to move into agility when Sydney finished this class. I went to Crag bank last night (thought I would get as much training in for Sydney a 15 weeks Dobie before we start going to shows). But unfortunately they didnt have the key to get in, usually I attend the Torrisholme class Monday nights,
What sort of dog do you have? How did you find the training classes that Margaret holds.
By Isabel
Date 07.05.03 14:47 UTC

I have a 9 year old Cocker and a 14 year old Dandie who both attended Margaret's puppy classes. We got along fine at the classes, (Margaret knows my two, Amber and Nellie, pretty well as they have always lodged at her kennels) they use kind methods there she doesn't like choke chains (although she's not above raising her voice :D), but I was really just going for the basics and sociallising. Amber, the Cocker did a bit of agility with a friends daughter and they both enjoyed that too. Where do they do the Torrisholme classes now? It used to be run by Carol Halliwell who breeds Dandies now, is it still? Are there any Dandies attending?
By JackyandSydney

Sally Lines runs the class at the Torrisholme methodist church. Sorry to show my ignorance but whats a dandie

Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Jacky, a very old breed of terrier, sadly not very common these days although it was much more so in Victorian times. This
site gives a good history and has some good pics in the gallery except they maybe don't give you an idea of there true size, they are not at all toy like.
