Hi all, I'm taking my 3yr.old. GSD, Lacey to the stud dog this weekend, [$ what I'd like to ask is, her (Lacey's) full name is Black Velvet Lace, she is KC reg. & I gave her this name, does this mean that my affix is Black Velvet so I can name the puppies ( if she has any) with this,ie] Black Velvet Star?etc. Thanks, Nicky

Hi Nicky

Unless you have registered "Black Velvet" with the kennel club affix dept, and paid your registeration fee of approx £70 and a yearly admin cost then no this is not an affix, when you are granted an affix it takes approx 3 months from submitting to getting it granted, and on getting your affix granted you are then supplied with a Kennel Club Certificate of proof of your affix.
HTH

Regards
Karen

Hello Nicky
No Black Velvet is not your affix it is merely part of your dogs KC name.
You have to apply to the Kennel Club for an affix and pay a fee on application. You would need to submit several one word affix names and they will let you know which one is acceptable.
Once you have your Official KC granted affix then any pups you breed can have your affix in front of their names. You can also pay to add your affix to the back of any dogs names you already own.
You also have to pay a yearly re-newal fee for your affix.

Thanks for your replies, I have rung the kc & asked for the relevent papers, & yes it is £70 to register the name, & £20 per year (£17 if done via direct debit) for admin. costs. Fingers crossed for tomorrow when I take Lacey to the stud dog.
