I have got a 10 week cocker spaniel bitch. I think we have managed to house train her during the day as we have not had any "accidents" for the last few days. At night we put her in her pen (crate) which she loves. She also goes in there during the day.
Up to now we have always left newspaper down at night in her pen and she normally uses it. We do not have newspaper down during the day. Last night we forgot to put the newspaper down and there was no wee or poo. Are we confusing her by putting the newspaper down and should we not put it down now?
Thank you in advance for any comments.

Hi
My - you are doing so well to have her clean and dry during the day already - be prepared for her to lapse though. As for night time - deffo remove the paper. It will encourage her to go rather than to wait. She may wake up and whimper - in which case - get her up, take her out for her toilet and put her straight back in her crate. Praise her for going - but no other fuss. She will soon go through the night all the time. My young Cocker pup has been clean and dry through the night since he was 11 weeks old.
Good luck and enjoy
