did anyone watch monkey business last night where they went to a pet shop with the rspca to pick up a monkey. and found 6 black labs, kittens pythons all in cages on display. i thought this was illegal? the rspca just removed the monkey and left all the pups. sick

Is it? I found some Staffie/Belgian Shep puppies in cages at my local pet shop but only registered my disgust and then boycotted the shop.

As I understand it, as long as the 'establishment' is licenced they can sell whatever domestic animals they choose. The monkey would come under a different category - they would have needed a different licence.

The Kennel Club has rules about breeders selling registered pups to pet shops - but if they're not registered then there's nothing the KC can do. :(

have you ever been to 'monkey world' in dorset - the place that 'monkey business' is about ?. it's an amazing place. some of the stories about the lives of the chimps etc. they care for will break your heart. it's unbelievable what some of them have been through. the managemant and staff work so hard to give them their lives back. makes a really good and educational day out

It is illegal to have a prey animal (ie for a snake a mouse or a rat) within sight of the 'end consumer'..

the rats where running free around the puppies. the snakes enclosure was open so it kept getting out. the owner said the python would catch the rats. isn't he the rat?
on a lighter note i visited woburn safari park. that was a great day out petting wallabys and having little monkeys running around your feet. no maybe that was the kids
