Hi,
Have you looked on the champdogs breeders list? If so and nobody has any puppies then contact either Shirley Johnson (Flatcoated Retriever Society), who is the litter register secretary for the whole of the UK or the litter register secretary for the North of England Flatcoated Retriever Association.
Do expect to be thoroughly checked out before you get a pup as there are a lot of dealers who are trying to get a puppy to export overseas. They do use agents, flatcoat breeders are getting very cautious as to who has their pups.
Phone numbers: Mrs S. Johnson 01638718231 or
Mrs B. M Adams 01423 885471
Both parents of the puppies should be hipscored and eye tested.
Remember to ask the breeder to show the BVA/KC hip score certificates for both the dog and the bitch and the BVA/KC eye testing certificates for both dog and bitch. Flatcoats currently average a score 9 on their hip scores and you need to check if the sire and dam are eye tested for glaucoma, which is a one off test, other eye tests are done annually, although the only eye condition known in flatcoats in the UK is glaucoma.
I am judging Merseyside Gundog Show on Sunday, there will be flatcoat folk there who may be able to help you find a puppy. The show is at Kirkby Leisure Centre.
Good Luck with your search.
