Hi :)
I have had our Mini 8wk old Schnauzer home for 5 days now and we just let the cats do what they like, we held the pup so the cats could sniff or whatever.. Now one of my cats likes to play with him (pup likes to chase his tail and cat thinks its funny sneaking up on him! lol) and the other hisses and hides upstairs!
If i were you and my cats were staying out of the way be thankful that your pup is not trying to eat them! They will come round with time, Pups smell different and also they are unpredictable so your cats are just unsure.
If your really adimant on introducing them then you could try putting a piece of the dogs bedding with the cats and visa versa and they will get used to one anothers smells and with time wont be so affraid.

Hi Francis,
Roxanne has given you loads of great advice, but I would just like to add that if you are using a crate, it's a good idea to encourage the cats into the room where your puppies crate is and they feel safe and can get used to the sight and smell of this alien being (to them!! :D )
Good luck
