Help! I have an intermittent spacebar! If I justcarry ontypinginmy normal wayit ends up lookinglikethis, so I have to go back and laboriously put in the spaces. I've shaken several tons of crumbs and doghair from the keyboard, and hoovered it-is there anything I can do,or is it b*****ed?

Found it was the spilt fruit juice that finally did for mine :D

If it's a laptop, they're normally fairly self-contained units, but some desktop PCs you can take the keys off individually and have a bit of a clean underneath - no idea how to tell you whether yours is one of these, though, so won't take the responsibility ;)

you can buy a can of compressed air from places like PC World and blast out the bits and pieces with it, also a good idea to open up your pc now and and again and give that a blast, its amazing how muchdust collects in a sealed box. Don't try vacuuming inside your pc though, it can cause static, which is fatal to computers.

Isn't it odd how, after you've taken something apart, panicked, and put it back together again, there's always one piece left over?

Key boards are so cheap it's not worth messing about with them. The thing to note is that there are two types of connectors to plug it in, AT and PS2. One is bigger than the other. In the event that you get the wrong type you can buy an adaptor to convert from one to the other. (I did just that!)

Best wishes, John
