Hi..
We picked our Miniature Schnauzer pup up two days ago and on his breed line he has many CH's which i know stands for Champion but he has a couple of AM CH's...Whats this?
I have done a search and i have been on to the Kennel Club site but i cant seem to find anything.
We had a guess at American Champion but that was all we could think of and im sure its not right :)
Thanks Roxanne

Hi Roxanne, AM CH stands for American Champion. One of more of the dogs ancestors has been imported from the USA to appear on a UK pedigree.

Thanks
So we were right :) Is there any significance in that? Or is it just something that they think is important and put on the breed line?

If a dog is a champion in another country then these are put before the CH bit to show where the dog became a champion. If it is just CH then it is a champion in this country. I have a CH AM CH in my pedigree of my poodles which signifies that the dogs is both a British and American Champion! Some dogs have a whole list of CH's from different countries :D
