I am due to pick up my new puppy next tuesday, and checked the parents paperwork when i went to see her to check it was all ok.When i rang the breeder-who is a first time breeder- to check that everything was still ok for next week she said that the puppy registration hadn't come through yet cos she had tried to pay with the wrong card, but it was now sorted.Being a perfectionist i rang the kc up and they said they have no registration pending from this breeder. It seems very weird to me as she swears blind its all in the pipeline, and she's keeping one of the pups to breed from in the future.is it me who's being too pedantic or what, as i do not want an unregistered pup.If i turn up to get it and that's the case i will be devastated.HELP!!
ps could the kc be wrong???

Does your breeder have an affix and is she registering the litter as a whole or the individual pups?

she only has two pups to register and no she doesn't have an affix.i presume she's registering the litter as a whole and then giving me the form to send of to get the full pedigree, i think its £12 per pup!!I don't think she's being deceitful just a bit dizzy but i don't want to antagonize her in case it's the kc making the mistake!

Your breeder can give you the whole pedigree! I agree with Admin ..check out that it
is the Kennel Club

I think you need to check that the litter is Kennel Club registered and not "Dog Lovers Club" registered. Big difference.

oh god i know that!!I wouldn't entertain a pup registered with them, i'm hoping it's in the pipeline.I am so diligent about things like this, when we had pups I showed the puppy viewers the paperwork and we had the forms and everthing ready really early. This breeder only has two pups to register and she's keeping one herself.I don't want to charge in feet first, and evrything to be ok and her say i can't have the pup!!

Do you know the Bitches registered name? If so try phoning the kennel club with that as I had problems with my my paperwork (they had got lost in the post :) ) and found that they are better with dog names as opposed to peoples :D!

i gave them both the sire and dams names and numbers and they are both registered but they said they have no paperwork pending for a litter.i rang them once before though and they said the dam wasn't registered, and then later said she was, so i'm treading very carefully this time.i want the pup so much that i don't want to get the breeder's back up.she might be just more laid back than me!!!

have just rung both the kennel club and dog lovers and theyre not registered on either, but kc said that if she had paid with the wrong card she would have to resubmit all the paperwork and not just quote a different card number by phone.i've just tried to ring her but no answer.i feel like i need to do all the paperwork for her to make sure its ready , although now i know it wont be!!any ideas??!!
It maybe that this lady isjust a bit slack with her paperwork, she has to register both puppies at the same time by the way.
If you want to cover your tracks and still want to take the risk of getting the pup without registration papers, then I would suggest that you get it in writing from her that KC Registration has been applied for and will be forwarded to you within a certain time.
As regards the pedigree, she can order a pedigree at the time of registration or you can order one when you transfer the pup into your name.

thanks for all your help.i'm gonna ring her soon but will find it hard to be diplomatic when i want my pup plus paperwork next week.i might tell her i cant take the pup without the paperwork, and that might motivate her.i'm sure she thinks shes done it all right though!!i must admit it isn't an easy form to fill in but never mind!!

Hi, if you take this puppy without any paperwork, as someone else has advised get it in writing from the breeder "Kennel Club Registration has been applied for" if the paperwork does not come through you can sue her through the courts and trading standards would be interested a dog is covered by the Sale of Goods Act. I wonder why she is not giving a 5 generation pedigree herself, before I got the computer I used to hand write pedigrees, another tip, is the puppy insured, I give 6 weeks free pet plan insurance with puppies, also diet sheet, puppy sales contract, k.c. reg. pedigree papers and enough food to do at least two weeks. Please let us know how you get on.

thanks irene, that's very good advice.i have the gut feeling that she thinks she is doing the right thing and i'm a bit loopy/neurotic about the paperwork, but knowing from the kc that nothing's in the pipeline i feel justified in making queries.it's a difficult one cos i don't want her knowing i've been checking up with the kc.i'll be speaking to her tonight as i want to ses the pup again this week so i'll broach it with her then.

Hi,
I know how excited you are about this new pup, but do make sure the paperwork is definitely in the pipeline. Don't worry about the breeder thinking you are neurotic, I would want to be sure if the pup was mine and if you are diplomatic about it I am sure you will get a straight reply from her. These things are sent to try us!
Best Wishes

a solution at last!! I ahve just rung the kc and the pups were registered this morning, it HAD all been in the pipeline but the kc didnt seem to know when i was ringing up.hopefully i can pick her up next week with all the correct paperwork!!

I've had this problem before, when I've sent the papers off and the KC said that they didn't have them. At one point the person who had started it had gone off on maternity leave and the papers were still sat in her tray!! This was some time ago and it did seem as though things had improved.
