Can anyone help me, I have an 18 month german shepherd bitch, she has been spayed. Her wee has started smelling of fish (awful) and yesterday I noticed a drop of blood in it, when she did one in the house (which is rare for her).

I intend to take her to the vets in the next couple of days, I just wondered if anyone had a problem similar.

I would think there is some kind of infection there. How long since she was spayed? You could give cranberry juice or tablets in the meantime to try and help with the infection, but definately a visit to the vet and to save time, I would take a wee sample with you.

An update for you.

Just got back from the vets, they think she has cystitus (hope I spelt it correctly).

Gave her and injection straight away and gave us tablets, 3 a day for a week.

Have to go back 7 days time.

Hopefully it will be clear by then.

ditto to what Manda says. Most likely a UTI - if you can get a clean fresh sample the morning that you take her in that would be helpful to the vets.

Hi Donna, it does sound like a UTI our dog suffered from them when she was younger. Is She weeing more? I agree with what everyone is saying and get a fresh sample and take her to the vets. She might need a course of antibotics.
