My bitch has just pinched a large chicken carcass out of my dustbin!! Realisticaly what are her chances of coming to any harm, wouldnt have minded so much if she was genuinely hungry but the chicken was cooked for her in the first place because her appetite is pratically non existant (well i thought it was! :-( )

Hi - I think this happened to someone else a while back and if I remember rightly some of the advice was to feed her bread ( to pad things out ) and not too much exercise (to keep things slow inside ) and keep a close eye for any signs of passing blood or not pooing at all - I'll have a look and see if I can find it.

I've had a look and if you do a search with
Chicken ,Decoy as keywords and muddydogs as poster there is a thread about it or if someone smarter thn me can do a link ;) it was on the 8/12/02 at 20:10 and think it was titled stealth raid ( I have a terrible short term memory :rolleyes: )

Thanks Liz have found the link, not nice reading i must admit!! Heading for the medicine cabinet for my fybogel and the kitchen for my loaf of bread! If anyone has anymore 'proven remedies' please can you let me know. PS my main concern is that she is 40 days pregnant - maybe i shall just call the vets.....

Hi I would call the vet -The dogs in question in that thread are fine and well but obviously there are dangers as Ted pointed out --Hope things are ok - fingers crossed here for you

hi just rang the vets and she suggested bread soaked in olive oil, starvation for 48 hrs and just keeping a close eye on her. Thanks for your input :-)

I once posted to this effect. Jaffa once pinched a cooked chicken carcass and when I rang the vet he suggested we feed her bread, whether it worked or not I couldn't really say, but she didn't come to any harm. In fact she probably thought about doing it again instead of getting a good telling of she got fed more:D Seriously though it was a real worry hope your dog will be alright.
