My 14 week dobe has a small bump where her tummy button is. It's not very big but her tummy is not completely smooth across it. If I gently push on it, it seems to disappear, though I do not want to push too hard so am not completely sure. I wondered if it could be a very small hernia. Should I take her to the vet or not worry about it, I am concerned that it will grow bigger as she does. Any advice would be welcome.

I don't think small hernias cause any trouble and some even manage to go away on their own. At 14 weeks I think she will be too young for the vet to consider doing anything, but don't think it would do any harm to let you rvet see her.

It sounds like a small fatty lump through the abdominal wall - not a true hernia, but nearly. If you can push it all the way back, the muscles might well close with a 'pop' behind it and hold it back properly. Untreated, though, it's unlikely to do her any harm.

Thanks for the replies, as I say I am not too worried about it, but I will be taking Taz to the vet shortly to get her chipped and so I think I will mention it then, not worth a particular visit I don't think, not at the prices they charge:D

Hiya Jaffa..
There have been a few discussions about umbilical hernias on here, if you do a search you will find loads of info.
Don't worry about it though, I have a bitch with a small umbilical hernia, she's had no problems.
I agree you should mention it to your vet next time you go, just to put your mind at ease.
Take care
Lisa
Hi Jaffa
I would keep pushing it back in as it may stay there at some point as she is growing
