Topic Dog Boards / Health / Broken Claw
- By karen [gb] Date 23.04.03 23:11 UTC
Our dog has today had a mishap involving a park bench and has broken his claw.

It bled a little but since has not bled again and the dog has not bothered to lick it and is not limping or anything.

Will it be ok or should i take him to vet and have something done with it. Its not hanging off - it has a crack across it.

Karen.

If it's not bleeding or bothering the dog, and there isn't a loose or flappy bit of claw that might catch and tear (ouch!!) then I would bathe it and then leave well alone. Keep an eye out, though, and at the first sign that it might be bothering him take him to the vet for some antibiotic on the offchance that some infection has started. Toe infections can be the very devil to get rid of.
