If it was coloured there would be no question about me going to the vets, but since it's not I thought I'd toss this one out to you guys first, and am still willing to take her tomorrow:

Savvy finished her season about 8 weeks ago. Chelsea (our other female) has been sniffing at her lots, but this isn't completely abnormal, BUT I just picked Savvy up and her backend was REALLY wet - esp under her tail where it touches her bits.

I did a bit of a further investigation (in case she'd just been chewing or licking) and she does actually seem to have a lot of leakage from her bits (very clear - nothing that looks bad). Now I don't investigate down there much, but this seems more than usual. She hasn't had a phantom, she definitely was NOT pregnant (kind of difficult to hide that in a SKINNY whippet LOL), so I'm just wondering what people's thoughts are. It's been about 15 years since I've had an intact female and this was only her second season. Is this normal or should I be concerned. I will of course be monitoring it over the next few days whatever happens.

Thanks

Wendy

Hi Wendy,
I know this may sound gross, but does the wetness smell, and if so, what of? (I wouldn't go sniffing directly, just smell it off your hand!).

Already did that - sorry I should have mentioned that in the post. Owned dogs for a long time - not much grosses me out, but still lots new to learn.

It doesn't really have any smell to it - the little smell it does have is a bit metallic - like if you were to smell blood (but not strong at all) if that makes any sense.

Very dilute wee can smell metallic like that, too. At least it doesn't smell like pus.

That's why I wasn't overly worried - just thought I'd put the question out there. I've checked again and all seems normal, so she may have just finished a good round of licking down there and stimulated herself somewhat.

Will still be keeping an eye out.

Thanks for replying!
