We have a lovely little Blue Roan bitch - we don't want her clipped short, but we would like her professionally and regularly groomed (We find it a struggle to do properly) - how do we go about finding someone who knows about cocker spaniels and won't just want to go mad with a pair of clippers?

This is quite a difficult dilemma as you will have discovered that many high street groomers clip Cockers automatically :-( Your best chance would be to locate an experienced Cocker breeder/exhibitor as some offer a grooming service for pet Cockers or to ask around locally for recommendations of other groomers who are willing & able to hand-strip a Cocker - perhaps you see other owners of pet Cockers around & like the way some of them are trimmed? If not, perhaps you could register with this forum & leave your location & email address - it's possible I could recommend someone in your area who will be able to help.
