this has been a continous problem with our new puppy he is only 6 months old. Three weeks ago he had hookworm took the medicine but still has diahrea. Can anyone help. Please email me at edlinda@sunlink.net

I am thinking that it may be a diet issue. He currently is on IAMS.

hI,
It could well be a diet issue, but it could also be lots of other things. Have u taken him back to your vet about it?
If not, please do so. I highly suspect taht your vet will then try to sell you one of several brands of dog food, mostly either Hills Science Diet, or James Welbeloved. Out of the two, HSD i wouldnt touch with a barge pole, let alone feed a dog, JW is much better.
However, cheaper still is to put your pup onto a really bland diet for a few weeks, adn see if that sorts it all out.

Try chicken and rice, or white fish and rice, or fish and potato. (cooked mashed potato that is) without ANY other treats or anything.

You could also try supplementing the diet with plain live yoghurt, garlic, coriander, and parsley.

I had a problem with my dogs being very runny, and eventually bit the bullet and switched to raw feeding, you can research this on the net, there is lots of information out there, both good and bad. But, make your mind up about soemthing and stick to it for a long time, or all the chopping and changing wil also cause digestive problems.

Good luck,
Em

Hi
we have a 6mth old OES also and for several weeks after we had him he had the runs, eventually I decided it must be the dirty water he kept drinking as he always found pools of water in the garden to drink and not drink his clean water from his bowl, I make sure I clear any pools in the garden now and supply several containers of fresh water around the place and the runs stopped.
A vets nurse I spoke to didnt seem to think it would be the water !! and yes tried to sell me Hills food as we are on Iams also !

but sorting the water out seems to have solved the problem!
