Topic Dog Boards / Health / kennel cough?
- By Canadian Teach [ca] Date 19.04.03 04:06 UTC
My dog has been going into coughing fits all day. After some research, I think she has kennel cough. She visited
the vet last Friday - could she have caught from just a visit (for her vaccinations and some time in the waiting room)?
She is particularly bad when she gets excited or when i take her outside. Help!

Hi
She could have caught it anywhere, its an airbourne virus, but where dogs gather together, i.e parks or vets, yes you stand a greater chance of infection. I would take her to your vet (keep her outside untill her turn, so not to infect others) to get a professional diagnosis, but if it is kennel cough she should be fine in a week or so.
Dawn.

Most certainly. It's a bit like going to the Doctor with an ingrowing toe nail and coming home with 'flu!! Doctors' and Vets' waiting rooms are the worst places possible for infection!
