I'm afraid that ever since a Sporting personality has had an Achondroplastic Dwarf Labrador people are thinking it would be nice to have a short legged one.
They forget don;t realise that this mutation that gave rise to this feature in some breeds is actually a deformity, which breeders of these breeds during their development have sought to minimise.
A friend of miune had one crop up in a litter, and used to sel deprecatingly say, after years of stiving to breed to the standard, the pinacle of her breeding was Dolly! Of course they kept her, even though several puppy owners would have been happy to take her. This bitch, broke her leg at 3 months, and it probably unrelated, but died at a young age for the breed, being only 8 years old!!!
What I am trying to say is abnormalities, no matter if cutre should not be encouraged to be deliberately bred for.
