Hi all, yet another question for you..

Could it be possible my 6mth old mini schnauzer does not enjoy training classes?

Basically, we thought weekly good citizen (KC registered course) beginner classes
would be a good opportunity for us to learn together, meet other dogs and just
guarantee a regular social event for him.

When it comes to down, stay, sit, recall etc he excels but then comes to walking
To heel – he hates it! He drags his feet, refuses to stand and generally looks as though he hates every minute.

Is this because he is so young and just wants to play, or could he just not enjoy the regimental style of walking in class? He just looks at us as if to say “I know all this, why are you making me do it over and over again?” Its as though he feels he shouldn’t be doing such medial tasks – well schnauzers do have a tendancy to think they are better than everyone else! :-)
Having said that he is at least 4months younger than the rest of the dogs so its
not as though he is not being stretched!

He has no need for classes as we have no obedience problems, and he has regular
Socialisation – I just assumed we were doing the right thing by taking him.

Has anyone any suggestions or experiences of this?

If you do not make heel work fun then you can not expect your dog to enjoy it either. He has decided that you and heel work are boring. So what are you going to do about it? :D Have you tried encouraging him in a happy upbeat voice? You need to be more interesting. He has to think you are the best thing since sliced bread. Change your attitude and you will see a vast improvement in his. He is a baby so lighten up on him.
