Thanks for your advise Lorna.No, the lab bitch is not a puppy, she is 1 year old and not still with breeder(Mrs A.H.Johnson of Henford) Her affix(I think) is Herriwood but I have no idea how to contact her as the gentleman now selling the dog is over 70 and unwell and was not the original buyer!! I take on board your comments about selecting a puppy, but I really wanted a young bitch if possible.
Does anyone know how to contact Mrs Johnson?

Hi Jackie, if you have the dogs pedigree then you may be able to contact the kennel club to ask about the parents hip and eye scores. It should also be on the registration certificate. I haven't heard of that affix, but I'm sure someone may have. I just wondered why such a young dog has already changed hands twice
