A judge recommended skullcap valeria last night. I've never heard of it. Does anyone use it or know what it does?
thankyou
Julie :)

As far as I remember it's supposed to calm a dog down, and reduce their stress levels.

I use one of the Bach remedies, but think it's time to stop. A boyracer nearly ran over my feet yesterday, bystanders had hands over there mouths in horror, but my heart never missed a beat. I just muttered a "D***"...as you do..)and carried on walking.:D
Nerves of steel or just a hopeless daydreamer??? :D

Dorwest Herbs sell it. I tried it for my Aussie to settle him down for when he was in the show ring, but it didn't work.

I also tried it on my first aussie, to calm him down, but it didn't work. I had a little more success with valerian compound which is in liquid form but is smells and tastes vile. My aussie bitch now does quite well on Bach's Rescue Remedy, 4 drops when getting in the car and then 4 drops 20 mins before going in the show ring. It also does ok for me too :-) as I get soooo nervous.
Hope this helps,
Gabrielle

I'm not too sure if giving a malamute something to calm their nerves is such a good idea. I have visions of Taiko being too full of himself and acting like a major delinquent....in which case I'd definitely need a dose :)

Skullcap & Valerian.

I have tried this recently from Dorwest Herbs to calm a "boy's" hormones down...too much excitement and it was a blooming waste of money. He was getting max. dose and it didn't make one slightest bit of difference. Save your money!

Aww that's a shame...just bought some...not even opened...to see if it will stop 6 month old cavalier getting too excited and car sick!

D'yu think I could give it to husband?????? :D

Sam

PS Just come back from a 150 mile day trip to the beach....pup was sick on the way there.....slept on the way back...I'm sure she will just get used to it!

I have used the Valerium Compound and have had great results with it.

I give it to my GSD Gypsy and have done for the last 2 months. It has made a great deal of improvement in her confidence
.I enter her in obedience competition and she has had 2 places at her last 2 shows.I order mine from Dorwest Herbs, if this is any help.

I bought it to help calm my dog down for showing. Made no difference at all.
