Hi all remember me the one with the cavvy whom was supposed to have had blocked anal glands well today i was unsatisfied as he was bleeding a lot from the back passage so off i went to the vets who now tells me he has colitis poor little devil his bowel was inflamed so he had two injections and is on antibiotics also she gave me panacur to worm him with he is got to go on a white meat diet so ive bought the frozen mince fish chicken ect you know the little blocks in the pet shops but i dont know how much to feed as it does not give a guide line at present im feeding half in morn and half in evening is this ok he is 6 months old .Also she said to go back to the nature diet after a week but i think i will stick to this now especially if it is going to help him i feel so bad as i beleived the last vet and let him suffer for a while thinking it was just his anal glands :(

Sorry to hear that your lad and the colitis. Has she done any other tests to check for any other conditions as well to rule them out ? It might be worth asking as going from blocked anal glands to colitis seems quite a jump !

As I have said before Min my eldest has had this now for over five years.

I would see how it goes with the food and see what suits. Be prepared though for set backs as it often takes time for things to settle down and find what will suit him. Just keep an eye on his weight and make sure he doesn't start loosing too much weight. Min got dangerously thin and we were nearly at the stage to get her PTS to stop her suffering but as I have said before JWB was the saviour for her and she is now a 12 1/2 year old happy Lab who is still enjoying life to the full !

Best of luck.

Re the constipation I would get him to the vets and get it all checked again as he is obviously not right. I think he needs to be throughly looked at just to confirm that there is nothing else wrong so that you can concentrate on gettinmg things right.

Lets us know how you get on.

Hi Feddie
You could try isogel, its a powder which is mixed with water which helps to firm them up so they don't get de hydrated, also add a bit of bran to his diet not bran flakes as in breakfast cereal but pure bran from health shops or boots ??
Hope it clears soon
