Hi, we have a 7 week old puppy (baby - our new little girl), who loves to be pampered. Could someone please let me know what the best way is to train her. She is sleeping in the house at the moment (beside my husband downstairs - because she does'nt stop crying). I don't want her to sleep out the back.

Bless her! The little mite has been taken away from all she knew, her mum and her litter mates and she is crying for them! Wouldn't you? What you need to do is start as you mean to go on. Get a crate, Argos do a reasonably sized one quite cheaply for a collie sized dog, or if she is a small breed, use a large, plastic, mesh fronted cat carrier. Feed her in it, put toys and treats in it for her, then once she seems happy with it, start to close the door on her for a few minutes at a time. Very soon she will be able to sleep in it at night. Give her a well wrapped hot water bottle if the room you leave to crate in is cold. If you use a mesh crate, cover it over with an old blanket or curtain so that she feels secure and less exposed. This makes the crate into a 'den' and as dogs are denning animals, she will appreciate that. Be patient, she has only been on the earth 7 weeks. Most breeders keep their litters til 8 weeks old so that they can cope better with leaving for a new home. I have had puppies at 6 weeks old myself with no problems but I am experienced and know how to cope. I would suggest you get a book to refer to from www.crosskeysbooks.com so that you can learn how to bring up your pup correctly if you are unsure.
