Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Incredibly fussy whippet ......

Our seven month old whippet puppy is the fussiest creature I've ever met! He turns his nose up at anything canned or complete & insists on the best fresh meat (which I gather is a fairly common occurence with whippets) or dead boddies left around by the cats! My main worry however is that he refuses to eat ANY carbohydrates (ie mixer, dry complete, biscuits etc) & I worry that his diet is almost all protein (he doesn't eat veg either!). Does anyone have any similar experiences or advice as to how we can get some carbs into him? Or any ideas on a complete food that might appeal?

Thanks for any suggestions. Pete

Hi Pete ....put his food down , leave it for 15 minutes ..then lift it back up. Repeat in the evening ....he will eat eventually. Make sure his meat is mixed with the biscuit so well that he cannot seperate it out. You can always use a blender to mush veggies up and add them to his meat. My dog LOVES tinned pilchards in tomato sauce ..so I add a spoonful to his meal and make sure that it is well mixed in
