My Labrador puppy (3 1/2 months old) appear to have caught a mild conjunctivitis from another dog and I wonder if I can do something about it or do I have to take him to the vet. Does anybody know if there is anything over the counter from the chemist that we could try first.

There are a number of things which you can do but eyes are a very sensitive thing and I'm very reluctant to say anything in case this is not straight forward conjunctivitis. With a thing like this you should see your vet first.
Best wishes, John
If (and only if) it is conjunctivitis, we use brolene, which is available over the counter, it works just the same as what the vet can give you but is lots cheaper, although you should chuck it after one month. Conj. is very contagious and can transfer to humans so wash those hands!

I have used cold tea (no milk) and a pinch of salt to soothe and cure cases of conjunctivitis in my children and animals. I still get it checked by a doctor/vet though if it doesn't respond quickly. Hygiene is really important, sterilise the cup for the tea and keep covered in the fridge for 1 day (make fresh daily) and keep washing those hands.

take your pup to the vet straight away.you should be able to phone your breeder up with these type of worries too, if they are reputable.
