I have been a dog owner for most of my life but only in the last few months have I been looking on the net for information.I did not realise the extent of the puppy farm problem. When I bought my last dog 9 years ago there was hardly any info about how to go about buying a puppy.I contacted the breed club secretary and was told as I hadn't had the breed before to forget it!Anyway long story short we did manage to find a puppy.More through luck than judgement he came from a lovely breeder and was the most georgeus, loving, well behaved dog anyone could ask for.He sadly died of cancer this christmas just gone and we were all heartbroken.I have managed to find another a lovely Boxer breeder and hopefully we will have our new bundle of joy in the next few months.
What has realy shocked me though is the extent these puppy farms advertise on the net.I have started another topic on this board about breeder websites and what to avoid but feel that it is not enough. Is there anything that can be done about this?I have seen a thread about signing a petition but there must be more we can do?The more I think about it the more my blood boils and as people have pointed out it all very well talking about it but something needs to be done.I am willing to write letters, make a donation and whatever it takes but I am in need of some direction.I am sure there must be others who feel the same.I know Tony blair is a bit busy at present but I will write to him if it helps!!
