Does anybody know of a haulage company that does regular trips from the Sheffield area that comes through or around the Oxford area or visa versa? We have just bought a welsh dresser from Ebay and to save driving to get it thought I would see of alternative ways of getting it to us at a reasonable price. I have so far had quotes from a couple of haulage companies of around £130 excl of VAT so want to try and get something a bit cheaper. Any suggestions ?

The cheapest way would be to hire a luton van and get it yourself. Shouldn't cost you more than £60 plus your time/petrol. Oxford to Sheffield is only a few hours each way

Lucy ..my Ma In Law gave me and Stephen a large settee ..now she lives in Chester and we live in Lincolnshire ;) She advertised in the local press for someone who was going to do the journey...She managed to get a chap to bring the settee over to us , he had a large van and was coming to Lincs to pick something up...a very satisfactory arrangement all round.

Obviously there can be draw backs and you would need to have some sort of insurance that the person isnt going to hop off with your lovely Welsh Dresser ..but maybe worth a thought?
