Hello everyone. I bought an orange roan cocker spaniel dog from a lady with the affix Kerriglow on the 1st of August. As yet she has not let me have his registration document. She says that the kennel club has not sent them out to her yet! I am also getting a blue roan bitch from the lovely Chris Pritchard (Powerscourt) in a week or so, and she has already got her papers ready to go. I am wondering if I could have been sold an unregistered dog, and if so how do I go about finding out?
Many thanks
Sheri

Welcome to the forum Sheri :-)
Have you tried contacting the Kennel Club direct? They will be able to tell you if the breeder has registered the litter with them.
If you need a contact number let me know.

Hi Sherri
Ring up the Kennel Club (tel 0870 606 6750) & ask them to check if the litter your orange roan came from has been registered with them or is in the process of being registered (you'll need to give them the breeder's name, date of birth of litter, name of parents etc). Nowadays, the turnaround in registrations is very quick at the Kennel Club - normally breeders won't have to wait longer than 10 days for registrations to be processed, though of course delays can occur if there is a problem with the application. The KC will be able to tell you if the breeder has made an application. If she hasn't, then you need to contact the breeder again & request that she does this asap - don't be fobbed off (some breeders can be very lax with their paperwork)
Regards
Jane

Some breeders like to wait until the pups have personalities before registerign the pups, which can cause delay with paperwork. I can confirm that at the moment the KC are being very Quick, as I got my registrations back in a week and a half. I have in the past waited six weeks! sometimes a delay can occur when the chices of names are not acceptable to the kennel Club, and new chices have to be submitted!
I also received my registrations back very quickly.
I dated my form 15/8/01 I sent it first class.
My registrations from KC were dated 20/8/01.
They were sent 2nd class post and I had them in my hand for 23/8/01!
So a total of 8 days or less inc weekends!!
They do say to allow at least 28 days on the forms.
Best Wishes
Kirstine
