I've just had my renewal notice for my dogs insurance, an increase of 11%. Needless to say I'm looking for a new insurance company. Who is to blame for these increases, the insurance companies or the vets themselves getting too greedy and putting up fees way beyond the normal man in the street.

just down to those darn insurance companies I think!! ha ha

I would imagine if your existing insurer has put up the fee by 11% then so will the rest!

Have you made any claims, as this inevitably puts it up.

Who are you with?

I think that its both making money. I don't believe vets are regulated with their charging so they can charge what the hell they like - which we find out every time we go. We have 4 dogs and guarantee if we take one of them to the vet they always seem to have to have an injection! Did you see that programme on BBC Watchdog (I think) recently about the vet that said that loads of things were wrong with a dog and they weren't - the dog was perfectly healthy!

one thing that really bugs me with vets is that when you take
your dog in for something, you pay for that visit and the treatment and they say "bring him back in 3 days for us to check him over"
your in for 3 minutes (to tell you he is fine which is blatantly evident) and they charge you again!!
Don't get me wrong, I have had no problems with our vet and I have 100% faith in them, but i think £12.50 for a 3 min check-up is a bit steep!

My goodness if i earned 250ph just think of the shoes, clothes, handbags - heaven! :-)

Just £12.50 for a consultation. Poor sod must be on the bread line. Tell him to charge £18 like any self respecting vet would do.

My vet charges £16. Isn't it funny though how the first thing any vet asks new clients Is "are you insured"
