Topic Dog Boards / General / Scratching and biting back end

My puppy is constantly scratching and chewing at her back legs and tails and whining while she does it.

After previous advice I took her to the vets who emptied quite a lot of gunk out of her glands.
He did however say it would stop straight away and it didnt.
So we took her back but there was nothing else in her glands so he gave her a steroid injection but that hasnt stopped her either.

Has anyone else had this problem and did you manage to resolve it

she doesn't need worming does she?
- By rachaelparker [gb] Date 19.03.03 16:40 UTC
No I dont think so.
She was only wormed about a month ago and the vet said she should be fine until she's 6 months.

I havent noticed anything in her poo either

Hello!

so how old is she then?

I was told to worm every 4 weeks until 6 mths, then every 12 weeks from then on.

Is that what you meant when you said she would be fine until shes 6 mths?

Hi
Try frontlineing her i have seen flea allagies and they always seem to start going bold and scratching on back end first all it can take if she has a allagie to fleas is one flea to make her scrach.
sandy.

Thanks I'll try that.

I have combed her for fleas but I guess one could have jumped on bitten her and jumped off.

Will let you know if theres any improvement

She's actually only 4 months but my vet said I didnt need to worm her again until she was 6 months.

Will have to check on that if yours said different

I havent noticed any of the other symptoms of worms though but anything is worth a shot at the moment because she's obviously in some discomfort

I would try worming her again to be on safe side, as you know they have their faces, mouths into everything whilst walking and so are more likely to pick things up.
