Can anyone answer my question? I have 2 stud dogs which have both been shown & have both sired litters (1 has had 33 litters & the other is younger but has sired 4 so far) they have never missed a bitch yet.
My problem is a lady brought a bitch up to mate with my younger dog & she stood for him & he was trying but couldn't get in properly, the bitch wasn't swollen like a normal bitch (most swell like a plum when ready to breed) but she was very tight but the lady said she was 12 days & her dog was going mad so i suggested using the older dog as he was more experienced (thinking it might be my dog who had a problem) & from the same lines.
He couldn't do the business either & he'll mate anything with a pulse!!! The bitch must be smelling right unless the dogs wouldn't even be bothering, but after alot of time & patience i told her to try her own male dog at home, but in my opinion the bitch wasn't ready or not in season properly & you'd be very lucky to get her mated.She became quite stroppy & said my dogs were useless & her dog can mate anything in season or not (Shows how much she knows dosen't it).
She phoned when she got home & said her dog mated the bitch straight away & phoned again 2hours later to say they'd tied again.
I don't believe her as the bitch obviously wasn't right, but now she is asking me for her expenses to be paid for her wasted journey.
Would anyone on here pay her? And was it my dogs fault?

Personally I'd have thought that, unless you agreed to pay her travelling expenses, she can whistle for them! Your dogs are both experienced, so I would think it's unlikely to be a problem with them - I would think you're right and it was the wrong day for the bitch.

If her dog will mate bitches when they're not in season, he's a rapist.

Does this lady mate her dogs every 2 hours then?

I am not an experienced in stud work at all but inteligent enough to see that if your older dog has had 33 litters and presuming from your post he is in tiptop health then he would have known if the bitch was ready.

The lady should have waited and returned the next again day or later.

I base my comments on advice I have had from very experienced breeders.

Personally i would definately not pay her expenses......NO WAY!!
And don't stress i don't think it was your dogs fault either as it sounds to me as if the bitch could have had an infection or not been in the best of health or just not ready for breeding.
I had a bitch a few years ago who was standing for the stud dog & doing all the right things but she wasn't in season properly & her vulva did not swell neither so the dog was going mad but the task was pointless as he couldn't get in. I took her to the vets to make sure everything was ok but it wasn't she had an infection so the bitch had to have anti-biotics she came round & mated successfully on her next season (which she had 8 months later) so i would very very much doubt the lady has mated this bitch to her own dog especially if your own dog who has had 33 litters couldn't mate her the same day as her own dog has supposedly.
My advice if she comes crawling back to use your dog in 6 months time is say 'sorry no can do i'm afraid my dog has too many matings booked' :).
