Hi,
I have a nine month old gsp who all of a sudden has started to snarl/bite when after a good run out he has to go back on his lead. This can be quite nasty if i am not wearing gloves and it becomes quite a battle for me to get him back on to the lead. Any other time his behaviour is good. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi
Re Flynn - just my thoughts - but is he not ready to go back on the lead, wants to stay free & this is his way of telling you which, of course, is totally unacceptable.
Wondering how many times do you call Flynn back to you while he is loose, just to practice his recall & get him to realise that his walk is not ending every time he comes back to you.
I have always done this with all my dogs over the years, not GSP but Vizslas, as seeing so many people chasing after their dogs because they won't come back made me determined that wouldn't happen to me, if I could help it.
Sometimes I'll just let them go a few paces from me then call them back. make a big fuss of them and then let them go off again. Let them go further then call again, big fuss, perhaps hold collar as well, then off again.
Over the years doing this I usually only have to call out the name of one dog & I get all of them running back to me for a fuss, have had up to 7 dogs loose at times.
I am sure others will have suggestions as well
Good Luck Steph

Guest are you a member of the GSP Club? They run training classes all over the country. You would be very wise to go along and meet other owners and instructors who have owned and know the breed well. They will show you how to deal with the behaviour your puppy is showing. It is also good fun :D

Hi i have to agree with stephanie`s advice I to have Vizslas and i routinely call them back make a fuss of them and send them off again ive never had any trouble catching or putting a lead on any of mine but i do think it is important that you dont let this continue you must let him know you are in charge basic training and lots of praise when he does something right he wont respond to you being unkind i dont have any experiance with GSP`s but if i was unkind to one of my viszlas they would never speak to me again!
good luck
