Hi, have been after a staffy bull for a while now - but have been trying local dog santuries all to no avail, so have now decided to buy one...

Hi Mark
does your pup have to be red ? If so This will make your search slightly "harder" or should i say "longer" .
A good red is harder to find than the more popular black or brindle but they are out there .
When you say you tried rescue centres etc and you couldnt find one , was this because you specifically wanted a red ?
There are a number of Staffy rescue centres around the country so unless you asked for a red only , I am surprised you could not find one .

Not specifically red,, red or brindle would be fine.. As for the animal shelters i have seen a few there which i would love to have, but they refuse to let them go to homes with small children. My children are 13/5/4. They quote the minimum age as being 16yrs for some and 12 for others, even the young ones with good a temperament..

Any more ideas would be welcome.

That is quite surprising as they are renowned for being so good with children . The only reason maybe is that they havent been around children in their previous homes ?
We have two children also- aged 15 and 10 -and our breeder was fine about releasing a pup to us although there are breeders who do prefer not to send a pup to a family with young children .
Have you been on to ALL the rescue centres ? If not they are listed on Staffords.co.uk or even by going into google and putting in "staffordshire terrier rescue" .
There is a search at present for a red pup by RussKaz ( if you pop onto searching board) and they too are having little success locating a red pup .
As i say the black and brindle are easier to find breeders for .
When you say you would even like a red boxer - they are both good breeds although slightly different personalities so make sure whichever you choose is the right breed for you .
