Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / long season?

Would be very grateful for your help. We have a beautiful bitch who we were hoping to mate with one of our dogs this year- hips & eye tests completed. She started bleeding at the beginning of Feb and we seperated the dogs at this time as a precaution and we had a tie on day 19 which required a little assistance from ourselves. Her mom didn't mate until day 16 & her granma day 21. My worry is that she is still bleeding and it appears to be normal colour and we're now on day 27! I am hoping to get to the vets tomorrow but was hoping on some advice as I am not convinced she has reached her peak as she has not been particularly flirty. She appears well in herself & has a good appetite & there isn't any discolouration or odour. Could it be possible that she is having an unusually long season? Our only other intact bitch came into season in January and this other bitch came in 5 days later but bled for only 7 days and we were told she'd had a split season.

Our primary concern is that our doggie is well but we would like to take a litter from her as she has proved to be a fantastic girl.

Look forward to hearing your replies.

Ruth

Hi Guest,
It might help if you could register with this site, as I'm sure other people will want to ask more questions.....for example, what were her previous seasons like? If they were long, it might be her normal pattern, albeit unusual!
