I purchased a schip puppy born 11/02/02 about 4 weeks ago....i have been noticeing a sensitive stomache on him. What is the best food to feed him? He has HIGH energy and is a little devil and only on occasion he will get an upset stomache and lie around...He was at the vet soon after i purchased him and is up to date on shots, but he was diagnosed with coccidia and given a 8 day treatment for it which has already ended, so i dont think it is that......please help.thanks

Coccidia can not be treated completely a course of treatment is designed to prevent reproduction of the adult organism which then allows the dogs own immune system to erradicate the infection. In some animals it can take upto a mth to clear the infection. I would suspect that your schip is still fighting this infection and needs to be retested by your vet to ensure that the organism numbers are low enough for him to recover completely. A normal course of treatment would be 1 - 2 wks with a couple of extra days even if his stools return to normal just to be sure, certainly treatment should be continued until all diahorrea is resolved.

Schipperkes are naturally a high energy dogs, one reason why they are called the Devil dogs in many countries that along with their inquisitive alert nature a joy to live with and of course a great excuse for acheiving so little each day as you watch them play lol.
