Hi :)

Does anyone have any experience of Bambers Frozen Meats (tripe, chicken, beef, rabbit etc) ?

I used to feed my two tripe and biscuit but had problems getting a decent local supply of tripe so moved onto a complete food. However my oldest has been a bit itchy since then (may be coincidence as he seems allergic to a few things (like the dye in some new floorboarding we put in his pen and then had to remove)) so I was going to move them back to meat and biscuit and see how they go.

I was going to have AMP stuff but it is awkward over delivery as I work and husband does all sorts of strange hours and we never know if he'll be here or not when any delivery is made. Anyway I have found an animal feeds place not too far away who stock Bambers so I was just wondering if anyone used it and the quality of it.

Hoping somone has a good report about it or I'm back to square one with about 2 days food left in the house lol

Sara ...remember we were talking last night about the raw meat? Guess what the stuff (the name of which escaped me at the time ...) is ...yup Bambers :)

Hudson LOVES the minced beef one , but we have also had the raw chicken and the meat and tripe.

One problem with the minced beef is that you get LOADS of blood when you defrost it ..but Hudson assures me that THAT is the best bit

:D

Its perfectly alright, but I think its rather expensive. They sell it in town for 53p a 475g pack......I would normally pay 16p for the equivalent!

I get 30 packs in a box for about £12 or so ....does Hudson for a month ..maybe its cheaper buying a month at a time?

well it cost less than your local stores sell it Sam - more like the price Mel says ;)

I got a selection of minced beef, tripe, chicken, lamb and fish.

They have just had their first meal of it

Raw beef with wholemeal biscuits - looked quite nice to me :D
Sam (who is a gannet) picked bits out his dish and dropped them on the floor and Phoebie refused to go anywhere near her dish after the first sniff lol

I decided they like left over cooked mince from my meals so I scraped the meat off the biscuits and cooked it. Sam wolfed his down - Phoebie still refused to go near her dish  so she will have to miss a meal

I will persevere with them and may cook it for the first few times and gradually get to feeding it raw.
I'm quite disappointed as I thought they'd love it and that they'd love me for ever for giving them it :D

Hi Sara,

I buy it and use it as part of my raw diet..

My friend and I have started doing a monthly order and they gave us a good discount better than on the sheet. I bought ears, trotters and boxes of tripe sticks also, this will last me a while but over all alot cheaper.

The blocks of tripe I am sure worked out to be 40p for the premier stuff and they are bigger than the AMP blocks can;t remember how much bigger but a noticeable amount :-).

Mine lot don't seem to be mad in the minced chicken regardless of maufacturer but like the tripe.

Hi Sara

I've used Bambers for a good year or so . I've mainly used their Tripe which is very good and the kids like it, although it is very juicy as someone has already found the same with the blood in the beef packs. Can't say that I think much of their chicken, very oily and although I have tried the dogs with it they don't like it much.

I'm lucky that I live near the Bambers factory, although far enough away from it so I don't get the smell from the tripe as it's awful!!! But you can go buy direct from them and they do a huge range much bigger than just the 454g packets. I've had huge 8kg boxes of freeflow tripe etc from them which was quite cheap.

HAve stopped using them now though cause I have found a wonderful butcher who gives me all his offcuts etc so I don't need it anymore.

You might find you have to introduce the new food slowly as it might be a bit of a culture shock to expect them to know what to do with it if they've been used to complete food for a while.

Good luck

Jenny

Hi Jenny and Pam

Well we've (or rather they have) had chicken tonight - cooked again and eaten with relish ;) (not Branston lol)

They were always fine with tripe until about 4 months ago when I changed them to complete so no doubt they'll get used to it again :D
