We have just fenced off the grassed area of our garden to try and give it a chance of re-growth after our two GSDs have trampled it over the wet winter months. They now have a large paved area but are very reluctant to use it as their toilet area. If I am going out I can take them in the garden and say "wee wee" and they both go, however, I have tried this on the paved area but they are just looking at me, as if I'm nuts (not wrong there!). I stood out there at 6.00 am this morning in my dressing gown for about 15 minutes trying to persuade them to go. (They didn't). I take treats in the garden with me so that I can reward them when they go but so far they're hanging on until I take them for their walk. I don't want to harm their bladders in any way because they're holding it in. Also, in anticipation of them eventually going to the toilet in their own garden I would like to ask what people with kennels do with regards to disinfecting and which is the best to use. Foggy is coming up to 3 yrs and Mia 18 months so I realise that to expect them to change their toilet habits now may take a little time. Any advice will be appreciated.
