Hi Paul
we too have a Staffy pup . He's 16 weeks old now and he's lovely.
Staffys grow up extremely strong so I would advise LOTS of discipline from a very early age .
Another thing is to get her socialised as soon as you can to introduce her to lots of other dogs and different people .Staffys love people and children anyway but I would advise on meeting other dogs ( for any pup I would recommend that ) .
The most important thing is to start how you mean to go on . Dont give in to her just cos she looks cute as an undisciplined adult Staffy isnt much fun .
Listen to lots of people and choose the advice that feels right for you .
If you have a decent breeder you should be able to contact him/her if you are ever worried or need help about anything and they will always be willing to help you . NEVER BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR ADVICE !!!!!!
Good luck and have fun
:D

Hi Paul
Do give her lots of love and cuddles, do feed her a good diet, do get her vaccinated,do ignore the little wee's she does by mistake,do put her outside first thing in the morning and when she's made a mistake, do socialise her as much as poss,
Don't ever shout at her,use a deep voice instead, don't ever smack her, don't leave her alone too long, don't let her get away with murder, discipline nicely, don't expect too much from her she's just a baby.
And most of all Do enjoy every day you have with her !!!!!! :) :)

Take her to a good puppy class as soon as you can after her injections, this will be for socialising with other pups as much as for training. And get hold of "The Perfect Puppy" by Gwen Bailey, it really is such a good book, and also gives advice on adolescents, etc and how to cope and train :)

ENjoy every single second of her "puppy-ness" as they grow out of it so soon, but looking at the threads we've had on puppy problems of late, I'd say your main concern is teaching her not to bite hands/faces :)
So always play with a toy, dont push her about using your hands, as it might be fun now, but will not be when her jaws get a bit stronger.
If she does go for hands/clothes/faces makes sure you yelp in a high pitched voice as would her mother do, and turn your back on her, just like her mother/brothers and sisters would do. It will teach her from the start that biting hurts!!
I would also try and teach her the "give" or "let go" command as early as you can.
Try and reward her with a tidbit everytime she lets go :) Staffs just love to hold on once they've got something and you'll have a hard time trying to pry it from their jaws by brute force! :P
