Hi Sharon, think I have some links somewhere about pano & alternative treatments. I`ll put them on when I can find them! :)

Here`s another couple of links to alternative links & info for nearly everything! Hope yuo find something to help, but I think it just has to run it`s course. :)

hi,

i have been giving my little 9 month old stafford pup 1 human grade cod liver oil capsule a day, and 2 capsules of Denes Seatone green lipped muscle stuff... available from most pet shops...

This seemed to work very well with him witin about a week - but we are not sure whether he "really" had pano, or just a mineral joint dificiency... The chiropractor we went to suggested a collodal(sp?) mixture made for dogs that was supposed to help, but we went down the pilld route as solo thinks they are treats and wolfs them down - though his breath stinks!!!

HTH,

Alex

Hi Sharon,
My Honey had Pano when she was 8/9 months old, it seemed quite mild and she just had intermittent lameness for a couple of months, our vets said she would grow out of it and fortunately she did. She is 5 now and fit as the preverbial fiddle! Including doing agility twice a week.
Does anyone know if certain breeds are more prone to pano?
All the best
Hayley

It seems to be the larger, faster growing breeds such as Great Danes, Dobermanns, Rottweilers, GSD's etc and more males than females. The only real cure is time as they grow out of it.

I put Callum my gsd on cod liver oil capsules when he had it, anyway he didnt seem to suffer with it for long it seemed to do the trick of calming it down, it is caused by to much protein in the diet, he was on puppy food so i just changed him onto adult food and it was gone.
