I was reading a few books down the local library last night and read in a few of them (cant remember the titles/authors) that its good to let your dog go without food one-day out of a week. It says thats its good because it clears out the dogs system. Has anyone else read/heard about this? Does anyone tried fasting your dog????????

Hi Josh, what was the diet they were feeding the dogs where this was suggested? With a raw diet it is said that fasting the dogs (but they do have rmb on the fast day) is beneficial for them but I was told this does not apply to dogs being fed on complete diet.

Yeah, I THINK it was. But mine is on a complete and "perfect" weight and size. She's having "backside" problems (look in health under "Bum Problems")so I thought the both were connected.

It used to be the done thing but I've never subscribed to it myself. The main thing is to be in control of your dogs food. So many dogs are obese and no one is to blame other than the owner, afterall, the owner is the one with the tin opener!
