please tell me if it is true ..I see some dog foods say their food will help make the dogs digestion better and smaller ,less smelly stool...like Pedigree and Iams ..I bought the Pedigree as I thought it sounded nice to try ..anythings worth a shot! So I gave her for lunch today and she just messed and I did not know it was there till my son told me (normally I smell it a mile ) am I imagining this or can food really do this ?

Usually, the more concentrated the food, the less you need to feed and therefore the less to come out the other end! As to smell, yes! Some foods do generate more smell than others.

I would not select food for this alone, some dogs do better on some foods than others so it is always a matter of experimentation. Even in renowned "Gannet" breeds like Labradors one of mine once turned her nose up a one food I decided to try. (It's a good job the other Lab I had at that time was quite happy with it!!!)

I dont know about anything else but I cant have a can of pedigree in the house, not without wearing a gas mask anyway!! :D you have never smelt anything like it, and in more frequent, louder bursts :D :D I dont know what is in it compared to any of the others but Boy did I regret the batch I bought to "TRY" !!!
Emma, And the now not so stinky Molly and Gus.

Many people, myself included will in large part judge a brand of food on what comes out the other end. You so have to wait a week perhaps to form a reliable opinion, as it can take that long for the dogs didgestion to get used to the new food.

A dogs poo ought to be firm, and of fairly low odour, and should roll onto a shovel, rather than require to be scraped up.

If a dog has persistently soft and foul smelling motions, then I won't feed the food.

The premium brands of food that have meat as the main/first ingredient tend to produce smaller, darker and firmer stools.

thanks for clearing that up ..her poo as I said has been half the size as before and darker more solid so I hope in a week things are good ! :)
