We own a lovely whippet dog who is now just over 6 months old. We think he would appreciate a bit of company and have been recommended to get a bitch this time to ensure they get on well. Is this correct? We don't really want to go through the early rearing of a puppy again (although it has been fun) and would like to find a home for a whippet bitch approx 3 yrs or under to be a fun companion for Skippy. We have had no luck in any rehoming places - including Battersea. Any suggestions?

Actually with whippets the gender thing doesn't really seem to matter. I know tons of people with all males, all females or a mix of both! You can have a look at the breeders here or contact JR Whippet Rescue for a rescue. I don't know the address/website, but if you do a Google UK search you should be able to find it no problem.

JR whippet rescue do not have a web site but Linda Jones, who runs the rescue, does have an easily findable phone number and real address. Hello Nancy, you won't regret getting another whippet, we have 2, who are brothers and will be 1 this month. They adore each other and we haven't had any problems with fighting or anything, they really are good natured dogs, good luck with your search.
