Can any of the more experienced on CD tell me whether or not it is fairly common for puppies to get conjunctivitus ?

Yes! They are more likely to get into muck when playing. Whenever my lot have had it it is when one of them has been a pup.

I am very worried as one of pups eyes is starting to close . I cannot see anything in it and he and the cat havent been in contact so i dont think hes been scratched .
When I phoned the vet she said to bathe it with salt water solution as it is probably conjunctivitus and to pop in in the morning .I know I'm not a vet but I'm not convinced . He looks so sorry for him self and I am really worried about the little fella.
He seems ok in himself and he still wants to play . I thought maybe he had hit himself with one of his toys as he loves to swing them around .
He has gone to sleep at the moment which is probably best but somebody please tell me they have been through this and stop me worrying so much :( :(

Weak salt water is my usual way. In fact I use salt water for just about everything from that to a broken leg! At the moment it is being used on "The Flower" to treat a split tail sustained hunting up in Blackthorn.

lel i have just had conjunctivitus i got it off my sister in laws new born baby, and it can pass very quick from humans to animals, when one of my dogs got it last year i put the drops in her eyes and it soon cleared up.

not nice as it itches and feels like there is grit in.

what age is the puppy, beacuse chase my 16 week f/c has a bit of a discharge from his eyes but he is losing his teeth,it like human ears nose and mouth are contected,i throught my dogs had conjunctivitus in the pass and the result was teething or pollen like hayfever, not conjunctivtus.

Hes coming up to 15 weeks old now
He seems better today - I bathed it with salt water solution as the vet said and he is now opening it . I am so relieved as i worried past myself yesterday .
Fingers crossed he will be ok and i will keep bathing it .
