As I said in my last post, My friend is looking to purchace a dog from the US,
The breeder she is dealing with has said she would prefer if it could be done in joint ownership, I am probarly going to sound stupid now, But how can this work.
1 Is it possible to jointly own a dog, Registered in the US, And re registered in the uk ?
2 Is this normal practice ?
3 What are the legalities ?
4 My friend would still have to pay full price, Is this correct ?

I have never purchaced a puppy out of the Uk, And have never sold one, I just thought, That someone on this board will probarly know, As you all seem to know every thing else.

I had joint ownership in one of my puppies in Germany basically the dogs is registered in country of birth, if it is to be shown then it will need to be registered with the KC in the country it is moving to.

My puppy was registered in the UK and then I was sent the KC paperwork to sign for registration in Germany once the kc export pedigree and registration had been received over there. When the puppy had grown on a bit and was found to be unsuitable for breeding in Germany colour problems arose, I was sent new papers to do the transfer of ownership to another breeder/exhibitor in Sweden.

Having spoken with a couple of friends in the US, fellow breeders, they advise me that most of them will do a joint ownership of their dogs going for showing and breeding. Many also have any pet puppies neutered before they leave them to ensure no unplanned pupppies are produced from their lines.

Hi Bliss, I own dogs in parnership, albeit with someone in the same country. Partnership details need to be agreed between the people involved,as they would differ each time. In mine, I am responsible for the day to day upkeep and showing costs, but I paid nothing for the dogs conserned.
