Been a few mentions of stomach bugs, now mines had the runs yesterday, and today it's come out of both ends complete with plenty of mucus (thank god for a kennel and run :))
Is this an isolated incident, or is there more about?
She's on a starvation diet at the moments, so see how it goes.
Hi DaveN, from the sound of things I`d say it`s more than just an isolated case! Seems to be doing the rounds over in UK & not just pups either, so keep an extra special eye on your dogs. In fact been a few people down with it as well so maybe you`d better make a big batch of chicken & rice to be on the safe side :) Hope they`re better soon.

It is vital that you monitor her water intake. A combination of sickness and diarrhoea will dehydrate animals (and humans) very quickly. If her condition deterioates further get your vet to check her over to be on the safe side. Try and get fluids into her.

Try give her natural bio-yoghurt - it will put the bacteria needed back into her intestine.

Precious my yorkie was sick today as well. She wouldn't eat or drink and slept all day. No other symptoms though. I called the vet and he said to bring her in. She was running a temp so they gave her a antibiotic shot and also a anti inflamatory for the fever. All day she has been lifeless. When we got back from the vet she was back to herself running around the house like a wild woman!! She ate a good dinner, drank ALOT of water and went to sleep. I think I may have caught it early! Hope yours gets better soon. Shirl :D

My lab was extremely ill before and over christmas.
In Plymouth I know that they lost a few dogs over christmas with gastro enteritis. Our vets are recommending at the moment that any stomach upset is seen within 24 hrs. I know this makes the vets alot of money:D but with dogs dying of this, its well worth it in my opinion.
Hope your dog is better soon

There seems to be quite a few bugs around at the moment, there is kc going around where we are N West, quite a few have had it mine included seems some one irresponsible had taken their dog to a local show 2 weeks ago with the infection needless to say ours all started 10 days after, its not fair doing that, I have a bitch who is 10 years old she certainly does not need that

There's definitely something doing the rounds. Two of mine had it in October. Stinky has a "bottom" at the moment, but that's probably something different :(
As others have said, once you've starved him/her, if it doesn't clear up, go to the vets for a checkup and antibiotics. Stinky ended up on a drip on Weds.
Hope he/she's better soon.

My pup and her entire litter of five were ill at 5-6 weeks of age, which would have been in November. Feeling poorly and diarrhoea. They all went on antibiotics and fortunately all recovered well. One of the adults had been at a show and brought the bug back from a show.
I take my pup to her first training class this evening and I am very nervous about it. I would not want her to pick up what sounds like the same thing all over again.

Well she left me a present in her run this morning, and after close inspection, I couldn't tell which end it came from, but it was all mucusy with a bit of blood. So a quick visit to the vet, slightly high temp (she doesn't like it up her!) and a course of antibiotics. I'll try her with a bit of food later and see how it goes, probably see that in her run tomorrow :)
Hi DaveN, not sure how old your dog/pup is or when she had her last meal but try waiting for 24hrs since her last meal if an adult & maybe 12hrs or so depending if she`s a pup, till giving her a light meal of boiled boneless chicken/fish & rice.
