It's very hard to tell - I had a 7 year old BC x Lab bitch who was *very* hard on my ESS x BC pup when I brought her home (broke her jaw one one occasion, and punctured just above her eye on another) but they did settle down after about 3 months and lived peacably with each other - I've since been told that Collie's can be very hard 'Mothers' - so Schnauzers may be different. I now have two spayed bitches (the pup and an ESS_ living very happily together, so it's very hard to tell......
