Does anyone have experience of managing a dog with Addisons Disease? We are awaiting the results of blood tests, but the vet is pretty certain that Stinky has it. Hopefully we've caught it early and there appears to be no damage to liver or kidney function. The vet is hopeful that it can be managed with drugs and regular blood tests.
(If it isn't Addisons, then the prospects look somewhat bleaker and they're gonna start looking for tumours

)
Any advice, support, suggestions, welcome.

I think Diane had a dog with this 9th, I'll e-mail her for you and get her to come on here. Ingrid
Hi 9th, I`ve sent you an email to the addy in your profile. Sorry to hear Stinky may have it.

Sorry to hear that Kate. My only experience did not end well mainly due to the fact that the vets did not pick it up soon enough. I'm emailing some info I have on the subject. (The words are rather long I’m afraid but it came from the college) The prognosis is rather better in your case because it was found early on.

Thanks Everyone.
I had done a trawl on the internet, but mostly they seemed to be about dogs dying :(
Her blood tests are all normal and her liver and kidney functions have both been tested and come back OK.
But she is lethargic, has a slow heart rate, her face has sunken in a bit in the past few weeks and she has bad diarrhoea and periodic loss of apetite. All symptoms of Addisons.
It's just a case of wait and see what the blood test says. :(
Vet has been great. When I took Stink in coz her runs wouldn't clear up, she started a thorough examination and questioning and decided to go with her gut feeling (if you'll excuse the pun).
Will keep you all posted.

Nothing much to add really as I don't know anything about Addisons - just want you to know I'm thinking about you and positive thoughts are on their way.

Hi, I have an Addisonian Chihuahua who is doing really well with Addisons - we recently celebrated her 5th anniversary with it, and her 9th birthday last week.
Hope your dog is doing okay.
