Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Ash content in food/treats

Hi
In America a few years ago there were concerns raised about the high ash content of dry cat food. Allegedly it was meant to cause kidney problems in cats. I've noticed that many dog treats contain lots of ash - some of the fake bones have 60% ash. Has anyone any information on whether this could also be harmful to dogs?

thanks
Cizzy
