Has anyone any advice on how to stop my puppy barking at the cat?. He is 3 months old and when he sees the cat, he starts jumping on the spot and barking. I assume this is usual for dogs? and if he gets too close, the cat lets him know whos boss but i would like to try and stop him at an early age from going mad whenever he sees our cat or anyone elses!. After all, they will have to live together for sometime!!!.

You just have to perservere with "NO!" Taiko still comes to life when the cats venture downstairs, but now he's had the odd catslap he's more humble. He'll chase but the cats stop and stand their ground hissing and mewling, at which point he stops and starts looking around as if to say "what?...but I wasn't doing anything!" Then he'll run to me for reassurance. Taiko is 7 months now. You can tell that they have an understanding now, he knows the boundries. We get stares because the cats both follow us outside for walkies. Don't worry they'll work it out for themselves.:)

LOL at catslap :D Our Heidi has had more catslaps then you can shake a stick at, she's even learnt to lie still till the claws are withdrawn :) I expect she'll learn one day, that its easier all round to just ignore them, and a lot less painfull.
