Labradors are in the Gundog Group. so in shows run on the Group system, all best of breed winnewrs in their respecitve groups compete for best in Group, and then the Group winners compete against each other for Best in show.

In each breed there may be one or more breed classes. At championship shows they will be split by sex. You will have at champ shows at least a Puppy, Junior, Post Graduat, limit and Open class for each sex, when CCs are on offer. Each class will be judged, then the winners will compete against each other to determine Best of sex, and then Best of Breed.

Thanks brainless :D

Should i therefor be going to gun dog shows or open shows, or does it not matter?! I dont think me labs are intelligent enough for gun dog only shows!

Hi
open shows are for all breeds. Some open shows are run on a group system-you compete in your breed class(labs for you) and then each Best of breed goes into the ring against the other winners from its group.i.e all gundogs together, all hounds together etc....The winner from each group goes through to best in show.In a non-group show the group competition is missed out and all BOB go straight to the competition for Best in show.
I would start with open shows(after some ring craft lessons)JMHO
Good luck Archer
